Emerging applications are driving demand for a new kind of Infrastructure that focuses on data-centric processing, data governance, response times, scalability, and resilience. This new infrastructure is more de-centralized than current cloud architectures to achieve the necessary compliance, resilience, response times, and scalability. But the service model is still that of a cloud: elastic, easy-to-use, and highly flexible. In this Distributed Cloud Infrastructure, computing, storage and networking resources are used where and when needed. It becomes even more effective when combined with the Connectivity infrastructure evolution, where 5G provides new low-latency, network slicing and scalability properties.
